How to Cancel Your Spokeo Subscription Online

Cancel a paid Spokeo subscription from your account settings, confirm the cancellation, and learn how to opt out of your listing separately.

To cancel a Spokeo subscription, log in to your account, open the account or subscription settings, and select the option to cancel your plan. Follow the prompts to confirm. Cancelling stops future charges but does not remove your personal information from Spokeo's search results. That is a separate process, covered further down this page.

Before you start

Two things are worth knowing. First, cancelling billing and removing your data are different actions. Cancelling ends the paid subscription. It does nothing to the public listing that shows your name, age, address or relatives. Second, if you signed up through a trial, the same steps apply, but check the billing date so you are not charged for a renewal you did not want.

Cancel the subscription from your account

The exact wording of menu items can change, so treat these as a general path rather than fixed labels.

  1. Go to Spokeo and log in with the email address and password you used to subscribe.
  2. Open your account settings. This is usually found by clicking your name, email or an account icon near the top of the page.
  3. Look for a section named Subscription, Membership or Billing.
  4. Select the option to cancel or turn off automatic renewal.
  5. Work through any confirmation prompts. Some cancellation flows ask a reason or offer a discount to stay. Decline these until you reach a final confirmation.
  6. Note the confirmation shown on screen and check whether the page states an end date for access.

After cancelling, you often keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. This is normal.

If you cannot find the cancel option

Some accounts do not show a clear self-service button. If that happens:

  • Look for a customer support or contact link in the site footer or help section.
  • Use the contact method listed there to request cancellation. Include the email address on the account so support can locate it.
  • Ask for written confirmation that the subscription has been cancelled.

Do not guess at email addresses or phone numbers from other sources. Use only the contact details Spokeo publishes on its own site.

Check for the charge on your card

A cancellation is only complete when the charges stop. To confirm:

  1. Wait until your next billing date would have passed.
  2. Check your bank or card statement for any new Spokeo charge.
  3. If a charge still appears, contact Spokeo support and reference your cancellation. Keep the on-screen confirmation or any email you received.
  4. If the charge is not resolved, you can dispute it with your bank or card provider.

If you paid through a third party, such as an app store, you may need to cancel through that provider's subscription settings instead of the Spokeo website.

Cancelling does not remove your listing

This is the part people miss. Spokeo builds profiles about members of the public whether or not those people ever paid for anything. Ending your subscription closes your paying account. Your own profile can still appear in Spokeo searches. To deal with that, you need to opt out.

How to opt out of your Spokeo listing

Spokeo runs a separate opt-out process for removing a profile from its results.

  1. Find the specific listing that shows your information. You can search your name to locate it, and copy the web address of that profile page.
  2. Go to Spokeo's opt-out or privacy page. It is usually linked from the site footer under a heading such as Privacy or Do Not Sell My Personal Information.
  3. Paste the profile web address into the removal form.
  4. Enter an email address so Spokeo can send a confirmation link.
  5. Complete any verification step shown on the form.
  6. Open the confirmation email and click the link to finish the request.

If you have several listings, you may need to submit each one. Removal is not always instant, so check back after a while to see whether the profile has gone.

Why removed listings often come back

An opt-out is not permanent. Data brokers like Spokeo rebuild their records from upstream feeds, other databases and public sources. Even after a clean removal, a fresh profile can reappear within a few months as new data flows in. This is normal behaviour across the whole industry, not a sign you did something wrong. Plan to repeat the check and, if needed, the opt-out periodically.

What cannot be removed

Some information is public by law and cannot be deleted from the source. This includes court filings, property records, corporate registrations and voter rolls. A broker may still be required to remove its copy from its own listing, but the underlying public record stays public. Do not expect an opt-out to erase these entirely.

Your rights under CCPA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to ask businesses to delete personal information they hold about you. Many data brokers extend a similar process to people outside California as a matter of policy. When you submit an opt-out or deletion request, you can reference this right. The business may ask you to verify your identity before acting on it.

Doing this at scale

Cancelling one subscription is quick. Opting out of every broker that lists you is not. Your details usually sit on dozens of sites, each with its own form, its own verification and its own habit of relisting you. Vanish is a Mac app that finds where brokers publish your personal information and sends CCPA deletion demands on your behalf, then repeats the checks as listings reappear. It is one option if doing this by hand becomes too much to track. Either way, the manual steps above will get your Spokeo subscription cancelled and your listing opted out today.

Common questions

Does cancelling Spokeo delete my personal information?

No. Cancelling ends your paid subscription and stops future charges. It does not remove your profile from Spokeo's search results. You need to complete a separate opt-out to have your listing taken down.

Will my Spokeo listing come back after I opt out?

Often yes. Data brokers rebuild their records from upstream feeds and public sources, so a removed profile can reappear within a few months. Check back periodically and repeat the opt-out if a new listing shows up.

I was charged after cancelling. What should I do?

Check your account for a cancellation confirmation and keep it. Contact Spokeo support and reference the cancellation. If the charge is not resolved, you can dispute it with your bank or card provider.

Can I cancel if I signed up through an app store?

If you paid through a third party such as an app store, you usually need to cancel through that provider's subscription settings rather than the Spokeo website. Check both if you are unsure where the charge originates.

Can Spokeo remove public records about me?

Spokeo can remove its own listing, but it cannot delete the underlying public record. Court filings, property records, corporate registrations and voter rolls are public by law and remain available at the source.

Doing this for all 54 brokers by hand?

Vanish finds every listing about a person, sends the deletion demands from their own email, then re-checks later and tells you which ones actually came down. The scan is free — you only pay if there is something worth removing.
