How to Cancel BeenVerified Membership

Cancel your BeenVerified membership in a few steps, then opt out so your own personal information stops showing up in their people search results.

To cancel a BeenVerified membership, sign in to your account, open the account or billing settings, and turn off auto-renewal or request cancellation. If the settings do not show a cancel option, contact their customer support and ask them to stop future billing. Cancelling stops the recurring charge. It does not remove your own personal details from their search results, which is a separate step covered further down.

Cancel the recurring charge first

BeenVerified bills as a subscription, so the first job is to stop the next payment. Do this before the renewal date to avoid being charged for another month.

  1. Sign in to your BeenVerified account using the email address you registered with.
  2. Open the account menu, usually found by clicking your name or profile icon in the top corner.
  3. Look for a section called Account, Settings, Billing or Membership.
  4. Find the option to cancel your membership or turn off automatic renewal.
  5. Follow the prompts to confirm. You may be asked why you are cancelling. Answer or skip as allowed.
  6. Watch for an on-screen confirmation and a confirmation email. Keep that email as proof.

If you cannot find a self-service cancel button, contact their customer support directly. Explain that you want to cancel your membership and stop all future billing. Ask for written confirmation of the cancellation. If you were charged after cancelling, reply to that confirmation and request a refund.

If you signed up through Apple or Google

Some people subscribe through an app store rather than the website. If you used the BeenVerified iOS app, the subscription may be managed through your Apple account. Open Settings on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel it there. On Android, open the Play Store, go to Payments and subscriptions, and cancel from that list. Cancelling on the website will not stop an app store subscription, so check both if you are unsure where you signed up.

Cancelling is not the same as removing your data

This is the part most people miss. Your BeenVerified membership is what lets you search other people. It is unrelated to the listing BeenVerified holds about you. That listing exists whether or not you ever paid them. So after you cancel, you still need to opt out to get your own record hidden from their public search results.

How to opt out of BeenVerified search results

BeenVerified provides an opt-out process for removing a listing from their people search. You do not need an account or a paid membership to use it. Here is the general flow.

  1. Go to the BeenVerified opt-out page. You can reach it from a link usually found in the site footer, often labelled Do Not Sell My Info or Opt Out.
  2. Search for your own listing using your name and location. Several results may appear.
  3. Select the record that matches you. Check the ages and associated names to be sure it is yours and not a namesake.
  4. Enter the contact details they ask for, typically an email address, so they can send a verification link.
  5. Open the verification email and click the confirmation link. The removal will not process until you do this.
  6. Wait for the record to be suppressed. If any details were wrong when you searched, note them, because the same profile can reappear under a slightly different match.

If you find more than one listing for yourself, repeat the process for each one. Brokers often hold duplicate records tied to different addresses or name spellings.

A note on public records

Some of what BeenVerified shows is drawn from public records. Court filings, property ownership, corporate registrations and voter registration are public by law. Opting out hides them from the BeenVerified search interface, but it does not delete the underlying public record at its source. Those documents remain accessible through the relevant government offices, and no data broker can remove them for you.

Why the listing tends to come back

Removal is rarely permanent. Data brokers like BeenVerified rebuild their records from upstream feeds: marketing lists, other aggregators, public filings and licensing data. Even after a successful opt-out, your profile often reappears within a few months once the next batch of data flows in. This is normal and not a sign you did anything wrong.

Because of this, treat opting out as maintenance rather than a one-time task. A practical routine is to search for yourself on BeenVerified every few months and repeat the opt-out whenever a new listing shows up. Keep a note of the dates you submitted requests so you can spot how quickly records return.

What to keep as evidence

  • The cancellation confirmation email for your membership.
  • Any bank or card record showing the last charge, in case you need to dispute a later one.
  • The confirmation that your opt-out was received, plus the date you submitted it.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to ask brokers to delete personal information they hold and to stop selling it. The opt-out page is how BeenVerified handles those requests in practice.

Doing this across every broker

BeenVerified is one of many people search sites, and the same information usually appears on several of them. Working through each one by hand, then repeating it every few months as listings return, takes real time. Vanish is a Mac app that finds where data brokers publish your personal information and sends CCPA deletion demands on your behalf, so you are not tracking each opt-out yourself. It is a tool that automates the manual process described above, not a magic switch. The steps here work fine without it if you prefer to do them by hand.

Common questions

Will cancelling my BeenVerified membership remove my personal information?

No. Cancelling stops your recurring payment for searching other people. Your own listing is a separate record that stays in their database. You must use the BeenVerified opt-out process to hide your own information, and you can do that without a paid account.

How long does the BeenVerified opt-out take to work?

It usually processes after you click the verification link in the confirmation email. The exact time before your listing disappears varies, so check back and confirm the record is gone. If nothing happens, resubmit the request and keep the confirmation email as proof.

Can I get a refund if I was charged after cancelling?

Reply to your cancellation confirmation email and request a refund, explaining that you were billed after cancelling. Keep your card statement showing the charge. If they will not help, you can dispute the charge with your bank or card provider.

Why did my information come back after I opted out?

Data brokers rebuild their records from upstream sources like marketing lists, other aggregators and public filings. Listings often reappear within a few months. Re-check the site periodically and repeat the opt-out each time a new record shows up.

Can BeenVerified delete public records about me?

No. Court filings, property records, corporate registrations and voter rolls are public by law. Opting out hides them from the BeenVerified search results, but the original records stay available through the relevant government offices.
